n The Teresa Kessler Memorial Big Cup scramble to benefit Teresa Kessler Scholarship will be held Sept. 8 at the Fostoria Country Club, beginning at 9 a.m. Two team spots remain. Cost is $200, which includes golf, carts, skins, lunch and prizes. n The seventh annual Outing for Tiffin-Seneca United Way occurs Sept. 14 at Seneca Hills. Shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m. with registration open at 7:30 a.m. Cost per team of four is $200 and will include 18 holes of golf with two carts per team, lunch for four (brats and burgers) and two drink tickets per person. There will be a lot of door prizes, skins, 50/50, mulligans and hole contests. To pre-register for a team, become a major sponsor, which includes a team, or a hole sponsor, contact the United Way office at (419) 448-0355 or go to the website at www.tiffin-seneca-unitedway.org and click on events button.

n The annual Seneca Hills Thursday Two-Man scramble fall league begins Sept. 12 at 5:15 p.m. with handicap. Optional fun night is Sept. 5 at 5:15 p.m. for skins and handicapping. Call Bobby Pollitt for details at (419) 447-9446.

n Brad Tanner, Ron Jones, Howard Elchert, and Dan Gaietto beat out Dave Clouse, Ed Lutz, Whitey Florence, and Denny Lofay on the first handicap hole with a 13-under to win the Bump’s Tuesday Group outing at Fostoria Country Club. Pete Kleinhenz, Tim Bradford, Mike Clouse and Herb Love scored the only skin with an eagle at No. 8. Next week’s outing is Valley View Golf Club near Galion beginning at 10 a.m. Players should be registered by 9:40 a.m.

JV VOLLEYBALL: Buckeye Central topped Seneca East 25-11, 25-18. Brooke Bordner had two kills and four digs for the Tigers, while Lexi Cheek added six digs.

n Calvert beat Gibsonburg 25-10, 25-13, getting five aces, five digs and three assists from Kelsey Shiley. Samantha Wellman came up with 12 digs, Bradleigh Meier and Frankie Webb each slammed five kills, Kate Laney had three aces and three assists and Caitlyn Borer slammed a block.

n Genoa beat Fostoria 25-10, 25-18.

n Upper Sandusky topped Carey 25-14, 30-28.

n Mohawk beat Colonel Crawford 25-18, 25-20 as Lily Hammer and Kendyll Gurney each made seven digs for Mohawk. Kennedy Cleveland finished with three aces and six digs.

n Danbury defeated Hopewell-Loudon 25-18, 25-14. Raylee Baker led H-L with five kills, while Alex Jackson added three kills, Shea Harper compiled three kills and a pair of aces, Allie Milligan dished four assists and Grace Hoover finished with five assists.

n Fremont St. Joe topped Old Fort 26-24, 11-25, 25-15.

FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL: Calvert beat McComb 25-8, 25-9 on the strength of 14 aces, two kills and two digs by Ashlynn Deats. Lydia Ardner added six assists and Bradleigh Meier had two kills and two digs.

n Colonel Crawford defeated Mohawk 25-22, 25-15. Molly Zender collected seven assists and two aces for the Warriors, while Cassidy Frankart lined five kills.

n Old Fort defeated Fremont St. Joe 25-12, 25-10.

YOUTH SOFTBALL: The 12U fastpitch travel team Nitro will hold tryouts for the 2020 season Sept. 7 and 14 at Anderson Field. 1313 Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont. Tryouts run 9 a.m.-noon. Private tryouts are also available by calling (567) 855-5387.

JV GOLF: Columbian’s Carly Marie Beck shot a 67 and Lucy Smothers had an 80 against Port Clinton.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL: New Riegel beat Sandusky St. Mary 25-16, 25-14, 24-26, 25-16 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division play. Kaitlyn Kirian led NR with 16 kills, eight digs and six blocks, while Brooklyn Gillig made 18 digs.

n Old Fort outlasted Fremont St. Joe 25-22, 28-26, 18-25, 20-25, 15-10 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division action. Savannah McCoy had 14 kills for the Stockaders, while Grace Wasserman added 11 kills and four blocks, Christa Kuhn had five kills and three assists, Emily Hull dished 26 assists and Emily Blankenship ended with 17 assists.
