After 11 years together as The Late Show and the Kevin & Yvonne duo, a new voice has been added to some of the group's showcase venues.
Yvonne Ehrenfried said the group has incorporated vocalist Trez Gregory, a Toledo native, who left for Nashville to tour with Brooks & Dunn through their farewell tour and to record with Gretchen Wilson and other artists.
Gregory recently returned to Toledo to care for her mother. While in Ohio, she is involved with various projects, one being a Donna Summer tribute.
From left, Trez Gregory, Yvonne Ehrenfried and Kevin Maiberger are three of the four ingredients to The Late Show. Guitarist Jamie Overholtzer is not shown.
"Trez met us three years ago at Mon Ami. We had her do a song, and the three of us became instantly connected. On stage, there is spontaneous chemistry. We create our own harmonies and the song selection is unlike any other show. There's such an energy," Ehrenfried said.
The addition of Gregory has led Kevin Maiberger and Ehrenfried to "add a whole new dimension" and a third project of their own, built on new material featuring two front female vocalists. The Late Show also includes guitar player Jamie Overholtzer, who has been with them since the band's inception. He is to remain with the group, but guest musicians also join the combo at various venues.
"We plan on building this project as we continue the band and the duo," Ehrenfried said. "We'll take Trez anytime we can get her."
Fans can hear the new showcase with Gregory at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Hedges-Boyer Park. Bring seating for the free concert.
