A tip of the cap to the people of Cleveland, who received two impressive endorsements this week.
First, the Republican Party announced Tuesday its would nominate its next presidential candidate at a national convention there next summer. Then came word Friday that LeBron James would return to play for the basketball Cavaliers.
These announcements are not without complications. For one, Democratic candidate for governor, Ed FitzGerald - Gov. John Kasich's chief competitor - is a Cuyahoga County executive. Even more complex is the scenario possible if the James-led Cavs make it deep into the NBA playoffs, GOP plans to convene in late June could encounter a conflict in scheduling for Quicken Loans Arena.
No matter how that all works out, folks in northern Ohio hope to be rooting for a winner to come out of Cleveland next year.
