Michael J. Shook

Michael J. Shook, 68, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully at 12:05 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at his residence.

Michael was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Tiffin, to the late Eber G. and Rose Marie Shook. He married Barbara (Eberhard) Oct. 12, 1968, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and she survives in Tiffin.

Survivors also include his three sons, David (Erica) Shook of Gahanna, Douglas (Tiffany Moore) Shook of Columbus and Darin (Jessica) Shook of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; six grandchildren; seven brothers, Thomas (Joanne) Shook of Tiffin, Ronald Shook of Milton, Fla., Larry (Carol) Shook, Jeffrey (Darlene) Shook, Richard (Joan) Shook, Timothy Shook, all of Tiffin, and Christopher (Diane) Shook of Battle Creek, Mich.; two sisters, Carol Shook and Linda (Carl) Thom, both of Tiffin; a brother-in-law, Bill Eberhard of Loveland, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael retired from Rexam Beverage of Fremont and was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin. He was a 1963 graduate of Calvert High School. Michael was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during Vietnam era. Michael enjoyed woodworking, working with his koi pond and was a train enthusiast.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law, Donna Shook and Wanda Eberhard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a wake service at 3:30 p.m., at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin. Burial will follow the services Saturday at the parish cemetery, with military rites being rendered by the United Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvert Foundation, S.C.A.T., or to the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Online condolences may be left for the family and the live web-cast may be viewed at www.engleshookfuneralhome.com.
