FOSTORIA - Lauren Ladd registered a solid double-double and two teammates scored at least 10 points Friday as New Riegel rolled past Midland Athletic League foe St. Wendelin 55-38.
Ladd led the way, scoring eight of her game-high 17 points in the opening period and six more in the second to help the Blue Jackets (7-0, 3-0 MAL) enjoy a 30-13 halftime lead. She also hauled in 14 rebounds.
Taylor Kirian added 15 points and eight boards and Kara Scherger scored 10 points.
Taylor Arbogast backed them with nine points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists, and Morgan Noftz dished six assists.
The Mohawks (2-3, 1-2) got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Kamryn Troike. Makenzie McAfee netted nine points and Allie Rutter and Edy Mowrey each tossed in eight.
Carey clamps down on Raiders
CAREY - Four Carey players scored in double digits Friday in a 74-14 Midland Athletic League romp over Lakota.
Ali Rymer's 16 points and 10 rebounds keyed the Blue Devils (5-0, 3-0 MAL), who led 43-8 at halftime.
Sydney Wentling netted 14 points, Logan Johnson scored 12 and Hannah Draper tallied 11. Makenzie Wentling chipped in five assists.
Bree Long-Meyer and Katie Park both scored four points for the Raiders (1-6, 0-3).
Fliers catch early flight
CLYDE - Clyde raced out to a 30-16 lead by the end of the first period and never let Sandusky Bay Conference foe Oak Harbor score more than eight points in quarter after that Friday en route to a 72-37 win.
Amanda Cahill popped in 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished five assists and snared three steals for the Fliers (7-0, 3-0 SBC).
Kelsey Michaels added 16 points and six steals, Breanne Michaels scored 13 points and Lexi Weber turned in eight points and eight assists.
Andrea Cecil's 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals paced the Rockets (4-2, 2-1). None of her teammates scored more than seven points.
Quick start fuels Warriors
BASCOM - Mohawk dominated the first-half and coasted from there Friday to beat Hopewell-Loudon 74-50 in Midland Athletic League play.
The Warriors grabbed a 19-8 lead in the opening period before doubling up the Chieftains, 20-10, in the second.
Julie Adelsperger tossed in 19 points for Mohawk, Kasey Adelsperger netted 18, Clara Adelsperger scored 12 and Megan Cleveland ended with 11.
Courtney Burns, Alexis Feindel and Aleta Daniel each scored 11 points for H-L. Brooke Arbogast had five rebounds.
Bulldogs shake free in second half
ROSSFORD - Rossford broke away from Fostoria in the second half Friday for a 45-37 Northern Buckeye Conference win.
Fostoria (1-5, 0-4 NBC) held a 22-20 halftime lead, but the Bulldogs (4-2, 3-1) used a 14-8 run in the third quarter to gain momentum.
Julie Hotz's 13 points, nine rebounds and five steals keyed Rossford. Regan Clay scored 12 points, Kristen Keller netted eight points and Margo Jackson handed out five assists.
The Redmen got 15 points from Jada Hampton and 11 from Erica Moore. Deija Williams (6) and Alexus Smith (5) combined for 11 rebounds.
