Fair trade shop open next week
Fair trade is an international standard that provides fair wages to farmers and craftspeople to help them work their way out of poverty. Fair trade aims to protect the environment, guide the creative process, empower women, and prohibit forced labor and child labor. With the reliable income of fair trade, poor communities often build schools and clinics.
For two evenings, the fair trade shop at St. John's United Church of Christ, 10 Main St. in Tiffin, is to be open 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Merchandise from all over the world includes: jewelry, ornaments, candles, hats, gloves, stuffed animals, baskets, bags, scarves, clergy stoles, friendship bracelets, ladybug backpacks, musical instruments, Divine cocoa, birdhouses and much more.
