Joseph F. Czeczele, 88, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Bellevue, the son of Michael and Mary (Bella) Czeczele. He married Juanita (Zielske) Czeczele Sept. 27, 1961, in Monroe, Mich.
Survivors include his daughters, Gail (Gerald) Foos of Bellevue and Gloria Van Meter of Worthington; two sisters, Irene Canode of Bellevue and Helen Czeczele of Bellevue; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
His parents, his wife, brothers Basil and Michael Czeczele, two sisters, a granddaughter and a great-grandson are deceased.
He enlisted at age 17 in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Joe participated in the Battle of the Philippines and the Battle of Okinawa, where he was awarded the Navy Commendation and The Presidential Unit Citation.
Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
