BLUFFTON - Heidelberg's women were tested but came out on top with a 84-77 overtime win over Bluffton. With this win the Student Princes are 5-0 for the first time since 2005-06.
Columbian graduate Megan Miller, Kathleen Phillips and Carli Patrick led HU, scoring 15 points each. Miller added six rebounds and led the team in 3-pointers, making three of six.
The game was close from beginning to end as neither team held more than a six-point advangtage throughout regulation. Patrick hit a layup to give 'Berg a 70-67 lead with less than 20 seconds left in the game, but Bluffton's Brooke Ruffer hit a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.
'Berg outscored Bluffton 14-7 in overtime led by Patrick's six straight points.
Heidelberg will open up OAC play as it hosts Capital Wednesday.
'Berg silences Thunder
ANGOLA, Ind. - Heidelberg's men tore through their competition, beating Trine 74-51. Three Student Princes scored in double digits in the winning effort.
Deonte Holder led the team with 16 points, followed closely by Columbian graduate Cole Williams, who had 14 points and Keith Mackie who added 10 points. Lee Renner had the team high of seven rebounds for Heidelberg.
'Berg's halftime lead only grew as the Student Princes opened up the second half with a 14-1 run putting distance between the two teams. The Thunder quietly rumbled only scoring 21 second half points.
'Berg's men open up their OAC play Wednesday on the road against Captial.
