Irvin M. Rathfelder, 84, of Old Fort, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Valley View Nursing Home, Fremont.
Irvin was born May 23, 1929, in Fremont, to the late Frank and Florence (Rufty) Rathfelder. Irvin married Mary (Anglemyer) Jan. 27, 1951, in Angola, Ind., and she survives.
Survivors also include his son, Norman Rathfelder of Bronxville, N.Y.; a daughter, Martha Swander of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Jason Swander, Eric Rathfelder and Kristen Rathfelder; one great-granddaughter, Rylie Swander; a brother, George Rathfelder of Fremont; and a sister, Joanne Rathfelder-Smith.
Irvin retired from Chrysler Corp. He was a member of Old Fort United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers and Golden Threads at Fremont Memorial Hospital. Irvin attended Fremont Ross High School. Irvin was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
A graveside service for Irvin will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort.
There will be no visitation at this time. Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Threads at Fremont Memorial Hospital, Old Fort United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
