Debra J. Barth, 55, of Carey, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
Debra was born June 29, 1958, in Toledo, to George and Ruthanna (Rizor) Barth, both of whom are deceased.
She is survived by a son, Evan William Barth of Carey; seven brothers, Larry (Joyce) Arnold of Canton, Mich., Ronald (Judy) Bame of Columbia City, Ind., Roger (Jane) Bame of Findlay, William (Penny) Barth of Upper Sandusky, G. Christopher (Sheryl) Barth of Westerville, Kevin Barth of Upper Sandusky and Kip (Stacy) Barth of Upper Sandusky; three sisters, Kate Fields, Karen (Bruce) McElroy and Pamela (Jerry) Lawrence, all of Upper Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews.
Debra was a teacher in the Bettsville School system, having taught English from the 6th grade on up, for many years. She also coached girls softball and volleyball.
Debra graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1976, went on to Ashland College and received a bachelor's degree in education, and then preceded to earn two master's degrees in education and counseling from Heidelberg College, Tiffin.
She attended Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky, and was a member of the Ohio Teachers Association, along with being active with the Fort Findlay Playhouse.
For hobbies, Debra enjoyed Road Rallies, doing jigsaw puzzles and going to the beach. She loved her son, and enjoyed being with her brothers and sisters. She always looked forward to family reunions. She also thought of her current and former students as part of her extended family.
A funeral for Debra J. Barth will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday and one hour before her funeral Monday, both at the funeral home.
