Beginning this month, Honor Flight Northwest Ohio has limited the acceptance of veteran applications, according to a release.
The organization has done so because more than 600 veterans are on a waiting list and there has been a decrease in funding along with an increase in the cost of each flight.
Honor Flight Northwest Ohio plans to continue to accept veteran applications from World War II veterans, but only from WWII veterans who have not seen the World War II Memorial.
The organization will not be accepting any more veteran applications from Korean War and Vietnam War veterans.
According to the release, Honor Flight Northwest Ohio has a flight scheduled Oct. 9 and anticipates having two flights in 2014.
Veterans who have not yet applied to Honor Flight Northwest Ohio should note there are several other Honor Flight hubs in Ohio: Flag City Honor Flight, Findlay; Honor Flight CAK, Akron/Canton; Honor Flight Cleveland; Honor Flight Columbus; Honor Flight Dayton; and Honor Flight Tri-State, Cincinnati.
