John F. Minich, 66, of Bloomdale, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.
John was born Aug. 15, 1946, in Fremont, the son of Mick and Matilda (Nye) Minich. He married Janice K. Harter Oct. 22, 1966, in Fostoria.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Jennifer Artressia of Findlay, and Andrew (Jolene) Minich, Thomas (Jennifer) Minich and Bart (Rhonda) Ervin, all of Bloomdale; 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Autumn, Austin, Anthony, Kayla, Tyler, Hunter, Keri, Gavin and Brody; and one brother, Ralph J. Minich of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Carl Minich.
John was a 1964 graduate of Lakota High School. He worked for Chrysler Corp./Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg for more than 31 years, retiring in 1998. John was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria Aerie Eagles No. 430, Knights of Pythias Grand Lodge of Bloomdale, a member of the Bloomdale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department for more than 30 years, and a proud and loving foster parent for more than 25 years. John liked woodworking, fishing, sprint car racing, mowing, camping, bus trips with family and friends and Country and Western music. He also was handy and could fix about anything.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. The Rev. Matthew Rader will be officiating.
