Mary C. Gomez

Mary C. Gomez, 74, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

She was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Bloomdale to the late John and Antonia (Munoz) Macias. She married Jesus B. Gomez in 1958, and he died in 2007.

Surviving are two children, Lawrence R. Gomez of Columbus and Ava M. Byars of Trinity, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Cantrell, and Daniel and Paul Byars; a great-grandson, James Byars; four brothers, Louis Macias of Mentor, and Richard (Corey) Macias, Charles (Marge) Macias and Fred (Lucy) Macias, all of Fostoria; and two sisters, Deloris Bucher of North Baltimore and Anita (Gary) Mueller of Alton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann C. Gomez, and two brothers, Henry Macias and infant brother Robert Macias.

Mary retired in 2003 from Seneca Wire and Mfg. as a lab technician after 47 years of service. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and the Business and Professional Women of Fostoria. She had been a volunteer for the Seneca County Commission on Aging, the Seneca County Board of Elections and was a poll worker.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian Wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Greater NW Ohio Diabetes Association, St. Wendelin Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
