The grand opening of Advance Auto Parts next to the Tiffin Mall at 2205 W. Market St. today is sure to bring a few jobs to Tiffin and perhaps even a few satisfied customers.
"We have 13 employees and we will be hiring an additional two," general manager Fenton Hanchett said.
Hanchett said he has been a member of the Advance Auto Parts team for five and a half years and has been in retail for 12 years.
Company officials said they chose this location for the store because it's convenient to where customers live and shop as well as garages where they take their vehicles for repair.
"We have been looking to expand all across the country," media relations specialist Shelly Whitaker said. "We opened over 100 stores this year and we expect to open even more next year."
This is the first Advance Auto Parts to Tiffin, but the second in the area, with a location in Fostoria at 534 N. County Line St.
Whitaker declined to comment if Advance Auto Parts had plans of future expansion by adding a third location in Seneca County.
A press release states team members at Advanced Auto Parts will install windshield wipers for free and also install batteries following a complimentary check of the vehicle's electrical system and old battery. It also says customers can drop off used motor oil and batteries for recycling.
Regular store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts is an automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, accessories, batteries and maintenance items.
