FLC spins a new web page
March 11, 2014 - Rob Weaver
Family Learning Center has a new web page. The center -- whose future was clouded by a proposal by Tiffin City Schools to open a preschool in the shuttered Lincoln Elementary building -- used to have a rather static page accessible through the website for Sentinel Career and Technology Center, which houses FLC in its TR 201 building.
The timing of the new page was no coincidence, something FLC was straightforward about in its announcement. Its heading: “Family Learning Center’s New Web Page Provides Information, Interviews and Video Tours Designed to Educate Public on Its Future.”
The new site can be found at www.flc4kids.org. A release in an email announcing the new page further explains its impetus: “Events in the past four weeks have compelled the FLC to create this page, which educates parents, families and community members regarding Tiffin City Schools’ potential decision to cancel its contract with the FLC, effective June 30, 2014.”
It continues with a quote: “We’ve designed this new web page to gain support for keeping the Family Learning Center open and, in the process, do what is best for the 160 preschool and students with special needs,” says Dr. Jim Lahoski, Superintendent/CEO of the NCOESC.
The release then notes “NCOESC provides the administration, supervision, staffing, support services and fiscal services for the Family Learning Center.” The future of the Tiffin district's involvement with Family Learning Center could be decided at a TCS board of education meeting in a few hours. The board is to meet at 7 tonight in Tiffin Middle School's cafetorium. If you read this in time, and wish to attend, the school is at 103 Shepherd Drive just off Ella Street. Whether the new web page continues may depend on the future of Family Learning Center.
