Sunny Farms agreement made

It is good to learn that a consent agreement has been reached between Sunny Farm Landfill and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $1.71 million. These civil penalties address alleged violations of water pollution, solid waste and air pollution control laws. An additional $2.01 million has been assessed as penalty for underreporting and misrepresenting fees related to waste entering the facility.

My question is who will benefit from these millions? Will these funds be actually be collected? When? Will these settlements benefit the area residents who have endured the stink or had their lives disrupted by the foul gases permeating their homes or poisoning their well water.

How can these $3.72 million guarantee that Sunny Farms will not continue to be a threat to our residents and property.
