Paul J. Lucius, Sr.

Paul J. Lucius, Sr., 84, of Burgoon, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2020, inat his home surrounded by his family.

He was born to Frank and Clara (Reinhart) Lucius Nov. 11, 1935, in Seneca County. He married Charlotte F. “Snookie” Shiley Feb. 25, 1958, and she preceded him in death Jan. 7, 2015.

Paul is survived by his children, Paul (Ann) Lucius, Jr. and Sally Myers both of Tiffin, Patrick Lucius of Burgoon, Billie Jo (Steve) Garcia of Dickson, Texas and Charlene Mack of Sycamore; two brothers, Louis Lucius and Francis (Susan) Lucius both of New Riegel; sisters, Eileen Kurtz of New Washington, Alma (Marion) Lucius of New Riegel and Marjorie (Robert) Sours of Sycamore; sister-in-law, Florence Lucius of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren,; 24 great-grandchildren,; and his dog, Buckeye.

He was preceded in death by his parents;, wife; son, Timothy Lucius; brothers, Bernard and Gerald; sisters, Dorothy Clouse and Lucille Smith; and infant twin grandsons, Kevin and Ryan Mack.

Paul drove truck for 12 years, was a millwright for 33 years at Basic Refractories and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Paul and Charlotte wintered in Texas for years; he was a member of Basic’s Quarter Century Club, fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Big Nut. Paul will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family, especially the grandchildren.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Everyone is encouraged to dress casually and wear something OSU.

His service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tammy Waugaman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort.
