Franklin Delano ‘Del’ Hammond

Franklin Delano “Del” Hammond, 82, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Metro Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Wayne County, Delta, Kentucky, the son of Elijah Denny and Beulah (Marrow) Hammond. He married Marie Hammond July 25, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois.

He is survived by his step-son, Howard Pritchard of Crown Point, Indiana; significant other, Mary Ellen Smith of Bellevue; sister, Elizabeth Jo Fern (Arthur) Kitzler of Los Angeles, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Del was preceded in death by his parents; wife; half-siblings, Nellie New, Lynn Turpin, Raylah Hammond, Lee Bianchi and Henderson Hammond; and siblings, Jean Windels, Cliff Hammond, William Clyde Hammond, Brentt Hammond, Conley Hammond, Don Hammond, Ron Hammond, Mark Hammond and Charles Lee Hammond.

Del was the founder and owner of Hammond Stone/Northern Ohio Cut Stone.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also a member of VFW Post 1238 and Eagles Aerie 490.

Friends will be received 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.

His funeral will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Deyo Cemetery.
