Clarence ‘Gus’ Vargo Jr.

Clarence “Gus” Vargo Jr., 79, of Findlay, passed away at 8:51 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at his residence.

He was born July 17, 1940, in Ravenna, to Clarence L. Sr. and Lillian M. (Toth) Vargo.

Gus is survived by the loving mother of their children, Deanna (Riley) Vargo; his sons, Jeffrey K. (Susanne) Moore of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Gus (Jenn) Vargo of St. Louis, Missouri; his daughters, Leigh (Jim) Beidelschies of McCutchenville, Jeanne Girdler of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and Linnea Vargo of Northwood; his sister, Sandra (Steve) Kinley of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve and Patrick Vargo; and his sister, Mary Vargo.

Gus retired from Whirlpool as a plastics engineer. He was a faithful member of American Legion Post 3, Moose Lodge 698 and the VFW. Gus will forever be known as the eternal optimist, a loyal friend who never met a stranger, and a proud resident of Findlay. He was extremely devoted to his family and was a proud grandpa.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. A luncheon in Gus’s honor will take place at American Legion Post 3, 120 W. Front St, Findlay, OH 45840 immediately following visitation.
