Gerald “Jerry” J. Droll

Gerald “Jerry” J. Droll, 89, of Findlay and formerly of Fostoria, passed away at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Landeck, to Raymond K. and Mary B. (Stretker) Droll. He married Carolyn L. Wolfarth Sept. 24, 1955, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Findlay.

Also surviving are four daughters, Dee Sherman of Findlay, Chris (Gregg) Ward of Findlay, Carlie (David) Bader of Houston, Texas and Jenny (Craig) Iams of Findlay; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Ewald of Cincinnati; and brother, Tom (Janet) Droll of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Roger and Jim Droll; and sister, Mildred Scheidhauer.

He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the 6th Army, 231st Combat Engineer Battalion, Ft. Lewis, and subsequently assigned to the Desert Rock project, Nevada. He was proud to be an Honor Guard General.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where the family will pray the rosary at 4 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery with Fostoria United Veterans providing military honors. A luncheon will then be served in the parish hall of St. Wendelin.
