Florian G. Podach
Florian G. Podach, 88, of Fostoria, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born April 30, 1931, in Seneca County, to Joseph L. and Frances (Kuhn) Podach. He married Louise H. Collet Oct. 23, 1954, at Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, and she preceded him in death March 6, 2019.
Surviving is a son, Joseph G. (Jan) Podach of Westlake; daughter, Carol (the late Jeff) Shafer of Upper Sandusky; two grandsons; two brothers, Clarence Podach and Carl (Marliyn) Podach, both of Fostoria; three sisters, Mary Ellen Kessler-Hoover of Fostoria, Clara (Vincent) Brickner of Bascom and Jean Ann Brickner of Tiffin.
He also was preceded in death by a his parents, and daughter, Teresa.
Mr. Podach was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Division during the Korean War. He was also a Kansas Volunteer Fireman.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 pm. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where 6-7 p.m. a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will take place with a Chalice Presentation at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A rosary will be prayed 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery with New Riegel American Legion providing military honors. A funeral luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall of St. Wendelin Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Volunteer Fire Department or St. Wendelin Church.
