Don L. Hager

Don L. Hager, 72, of Tiffin, passed away at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Tiffin, to Johnnie and Florence (Nickler) Hager. He married Karen Agerter Nov. 9, 1970, in Monroe, Michigan, and she survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include his children, Amy (Tom Jr.) Fretz of Tiffin, Jenny (Jeff Shook) Kidwell of Tiffin and Brett (Brandi) Hager of Toledo; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Sue Picciuto of Tiffin; his beloved dog, “Lucy”; and several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Myron and Jack Hager.

Don was a 1965 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during Vietnam.

He retired from Essex Wire in Tiffin and taught at Master’s/Sylvania Driving School. He was a member of the Tiffin Eagles, the NRA and just loved watching OSU Football, and the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4 p.m. until the time of the service, Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin.

Funeral for Don will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday with Deacon Dick Gaietto officiating. There will be no burial at this time and military rites will be rendered by United Veterans Council.
