Harold A. Myers
Harold A. Myers, 95, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Sycamore, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
Harold was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Antrim Township, Wyandot County, to Jay Maxwell and Nellie Mae (Alban) Myers. He married Virgia Harbour March 6, 1945, in San Diego, California, and she passed away May 11, 1984.
He is survived by his loving companion of more than 30 years, Marjorie Blair of Upper Sandusky; his son, Gregory (Shanon) Myers of Newland, North Carolina; Marjorie’s daughter, Melanie (Ted) Blair-Dillion of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Farrow of Nevada.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son Gary Myers; and a brother, Paul Myers.
He was a 1942 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as an LST (landing ship, tank) operator and instructor.
Harold retired after more than 40 years of work with Galion Iron Works. For hobbies, Harold was quite a craftsman with wood, where he created many beautiful pieces. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid OSU, Browns and Indians fan.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky.
The funeral for Harold A. Myers will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at the funeral home, with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery.
