Darrell F. Stump, 86, of Bettsville, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, at his residence in Bettsville.

Darrell was born Oct. 11, 1932, to the late Raymond and Ella (Walters) Stump. He married Adelyn (Burd) Aug. 17, 1956, at Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Tiffin, and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Darrell L. Stump of Fostoria; four grandchildren, Molli (John) Heffley, Megan Nevers, Lauren Stump and Morgan Stump; and three great-grandchildren, Allison, Madison and Jackson.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Scott Stump; three brothers, Don Stump, Dale Stump and Lawrence Stump; and three sisters, Wilma Brookover-Klotz, Marian Stump and Norma Stump.

Darrell served 17 months in Korea during the Korean War as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He later worked for Basic Inc. as a locomotive engineer. Darrell enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing as well as socializing and being around his fellow veterans. He was a life member of VFW as well as a member of Moose, Eagles and American Legion. He was an avid fan of Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State University sporting events.

Darrell also enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife. She was the love of his life. Most important to Darrell was his family and friends. He loved to spend time with them. His grandchildren meant the world to Darrell.

Darrell’s family would like to thank Stein Hospice, Home Instead and Mercy Health — Tiffin Hospital for their compassionate care.

The funeral for Darrell will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, with Pastor James Nevel officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort, with military honors provided by United Veterans Council.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
