Alma R. Smith

Alma R. Smith, 90, formerly of Sycamore, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Orchard Park Assisted Living, Bucyrus.

She was born Feb. 6, 1928, in New Riegel, to Charles and Della (Frankart) Bouillon. She married Paul E. Smith Oct. 3, 1946, in New Riegel, and he passed away July 20, 1993.

Surviving are the following children, Linda (Jerome) Gubernath of Bucyrus, Jean (Robert) Hunter of Galion, Paul (Deborah) Smith Jr. of Florence, Colorado, Ronald (Barbara) Smith of rural Sycamore, Thomas (Debra) Smith of Tiffin, James Smith and friend, Mike Brown, of Coldwater, Michigan, Gerald (Wendy) Smith of McComb, Daniel “Burt” (Darlene) Smith of rural Tiffin and Donald “Pete” (Tammy) Smith of Sycamore; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters, Paul (Evelyn) Bouillon of New Riegel, Donald (Connie) Bouillon of Bascom, Gladys Frank of Tiffin, Anna Thiry of Fostoria, Barbara Wise of Tiffin, Marcella (Peter) Naderer of Fremont, Mary (Kenneth) Riedlinger of Upper Sandusky and Martha (Robert) Brickner of Marysville.

Alma also was preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Bouillon; one sister, Margaret Kobey; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn VanHoosier Smith; and a son-in-law, Larry Truka.

Alma was a retired assembly operator for 24 years at the former Millington Plastics, Upper Sandusky. She also was a homemaker and at one time was kitchen assistant at Mohawk Sixty-Plus Club, Sycamore. She was a 1946 graduate of New Riegel High School and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Sycamore.

For hobbies, she loved to crochet, loved to work in her garden and loved her flowers. She also collected Virgin Mary statues and was well known for her homemade noodles.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. A rosary service also will be at 7:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for Alma will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Sycamore, with the Rev. Nick Weivle and Deacon Jerry Gubernath officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.
