Howard R. Carlisle
Howard R. Carlisle, 63, of Tiffin, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2018, at his home after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 5, 1954, in Dayton, to James and Effie Jane (Duncan) Carlisle. He married Patti Piefer March 26, 1988.
Survivors include his father, James Carlisle of Eaton; wife, Patti of Tiffin; a daughter, Dr. Ashley N. Carlisle of Wooster; two sisters, Wanda (David) Winter of Eaton and Wilma (Dale) Rockwell of Bonaire, Georgia; and a sister-in-law, Pam (Steve) Ritchie of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Jane Carlisle.
Howard graduated in 1972 from Northridge High School and in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree from Otterbein College. After college, Howard moved and worked in Athens for 13 years, moving to Tiffin in 2002. He worked at Carmeuse Lime and Stone, Walnut Grove, as a chemist, and at POET, Marion, for the past seven years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a Session member and past treasurer. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed genealogy, traveling, watching movies and spending time with his family.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family 9 a.m. until the time of his service Friday at First Presbyterian Church.
His funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at the church, with the Rev. Katie Treadway officiating. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery, Ashland, following the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Promedica Hospice.
