Three hurt in accident at US 23, CR 10

Three people were hurt in an accident at US 23 and CR 10 on Thursday morning. Trooper Steven Bacsi of the Norwalk post of State Highway Patrol said Dianne Kohl, 71, of Alvada, was driving a 2012 Subaru Outback east on CR 10, and Ronald Smith, 60, of New Riegel, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado south on US 23. Kohl failed to yield the right-of-way at the stop sign to the Chevrolet Colorado, and the Chevrolet Colorado struck the Subaru Outback in the left side, he said. The Subaru Outback went off the southwest corner of the intersection, and the Chevrolet Colorado came to rest in the northbound lane of US 23, he said. Bacsi said the passengers in Dianne Kohl's vehicle were Dianne Kohl's daughter-in-law, Jessica Kohl, and Jessica Kohl's children, Easton Kohl, 6, and Evelyn Kohl, 4. Dianne Kohl, Easton Kohl and Evelyn Kohl were transported to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, he said. Jessica Kohl and Smith were not transported to a hospital. Dianne Kohl, Jessica Kohl and Smith were wearing seatbelts, and the children were properly restrained, Bacsi said. Dianne Kohl would be cited with failure to yield, he said. Personnel from NBS EMS District, NBS Joint Fire District, Fostoria Fire Division and Bascom EMS responded, according to Seneca County Sheriff's Office. The accident was reported about 9 a.m.
