Fostoria man sentenced to prison

A Fostoria man admitted he violated terms of his community control and was sentenced to prison during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff’s courtroom.

Chad A. Dayton, 32, had been convicted in December 2017 of charges of safecracking, a fourth-degree felony, and theft from a person in a protected class, a fifth-degree felony. He was sentenced to three years of community control in January 2018.

Shuff found Dayton violated terms of his community control and continued his community control with further sanctions and conditions, according to court records.

In August, Dayton was convicted of a charge of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. He was sentenced to three years of community control in September.

Shuff revoked Dayton’s community control and sentenced him to 17 months in prison, with credit for time served, court records state.
