Best week of summer at the Seneca County Fair
The theme for fair week, July 27 to Aug. 2, has been decided as the Seneca County Fair Board met Tuesday.
Best Week of Summer at the Seneca County Fair is this year’s theme. Entertainment and activities were a huge topic of discussion; however, the list of entertainment such as bands and musicians to perform are still working to get finalized.
In addition, the Tiffin Pedal Co. is coming to the fair but are still deciding on what their route will be. Also, the Great American Sideshow Co. will be at the fair for the whole week. Monday, July 27, will be veteran’s day in which veterans can get into the fair for free. Then on Tuesday, July 28, will be senior’s day that will allow seniors (65+) to get into the fair for free.
Also approved is having Sunday, Aug. 2, be kid’s day for 14 years old and under to get in for free with a paid admission ticket. Some activities that were discussed to be considered for kid’s day include face painting, a karaoke contest and a dunk tank. Sundays are typically the least busy day for the fair, so having a kid’s day is in hopes to get more people on the grounds and provide them with more options of activities to do. Additional items that were approved include getting a wood carver back out at the fair as well as finalizing on trash removal and manure for the fair.
Camping prices during fair week is set to increase and this additional money will be used for overall improvements to camping.
Further ideas that were brought up include naming roads around the fairgrounds which would be beneficial for the fire department and EMS if there were to be an emergency. Board members discussed the possibility if a person or business gives a donation they could name a road. This has not been approved yet.
Additionally, board members are looking locally to provide a dog demonstration during the fair. It was discussed to utilize the Seneca County 4-H Dog Council for this, but nothing has been approved yet. Lastly, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 11 there will be a pancake and sausage meal at the fairgrounds in the youth center. This is open to the public and is $7 all you can eat.
