AAA and YMCA to offer free car seat check for local families
BUCYRUS — In an effort to keep local children safe while riding in vehicles, AAA is partnering with the YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin to hold a free car seat check for local families, a release from AAA states.
The free car seat check will take place from 3-5 p.m. Friday, March 6 at YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin, 1655 E. Southern Ave., Bucyrus.
According to the release, proper use of child safety seats greatly reduces the likelihood that a child will be killed in a crash, but at least three quarters of child safety seats are used incorrectly.
Car and booster seat checks provide caregivers with the opportunity to learn about proper child passenger safety techniques to ensure their children are properly secured in the vehicle, the release states.
During this event, Child Passenger Safety Technicians will perform free car and booster seat checks for parents and caregivers as part of their certification process, it states. Each inspection will take approximately 30 minutes per seat.
To schedule a car seat or booster seat check, appointments can be made by calling Kellie O’Riordan at (614) 431-7882.
Those unable to attend the event can call the Bucyrus AAA store at (419) 562-9969 or the Tiffin AAA store at (419) 447-0551 to schedule free car seat checks at their convenience, the release states.
This offer is part of AAA’s Child Safety Seat Check program, which offers free car and booster seat checks to parents and caregivers at AAA store locations, it states.
