Pole barn, contents destroyed in fire

Firefighters work at the scene of a fire in Thompson Township Thursday afternoon.

BELLEVUE — A small pole barn in Thompson Township was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire at 14578 E. TR 136 was reported about 12:15 p.m.

Chief Brian Sears of Bellevue Fire Department said the barn and its contents, which included general farm equipment and a tractor, were destroyed.

By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had started in another barn that was full of antique tractors and cars. Sears estimated two vehicles were damaged in that barn.

The cause was unknown Thursday evening, he said.

No one was hurt at the scene, he said.

Personnel from Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District and North Central EMS assisted.

Huron River Joint Fire District and Green Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Department were canceled.
