Carey man sentenced to prison for drug-related crime

A Carey man was sentenced to eight months in prison after admitting a drug-related crime Tuesday.

Melvin P. Hook III, 34, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom.

Kelbley followed the sentence recommendation and sentenced Hook to eight months in prison, with credit for 49 days served.

Hook declined to speak before sentencing.

His attorney, Derek Dailey, said Hook regrets the incident and plans on getting as much help as he can.
