Carey man charged with vehicular homicide, OVI
A Carey man has been charged with vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs after three people were thrown from the bed of a truck in Big Spring Township in May.
Aaron J. Luzader, 42, was charged with vehicular homicide and OVI, both first-degree misdemeanors, according to State Highway Patrol and Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court.
Luzader’s blood-alcohol content was 0.165, according to court records.
According to State Highway Patrol, Luzader was driving a 2011 Ford F150, and the truck pulled from a driveway heading west on CR 59. The passenger in the truck cab was Marisa A. Heldman of Fostoria.
Luzader accelerated down the road and caused three people riding in the truck bed to be thrown, a release states.
Anthony R. Luzader, 47, of Carey, died at the scene, and Nathanyal E. Griffin of Carey was taken by Life Flight to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the release.
Griffin’s injuries were serious, according to State Highway Patrol.
Cody J. Luzader of Carey also was thrown from the truck, and Austin D. Hossler of Fostoria had been in the bed of the truck.
Personnel from NBS EMS District, NBS Joint Fire District, Bascom EMS, the county’s Echo unit, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Seneca County Coroner’s Office assisted.
