Man admits abduction, gross sexual imposition
A Sycamore man pleaded guilty to two charges during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom on Monday afternoon.
Stephen Braxton Maple, 20, of Sycamore, had been charged with rape, a first-degree felony; abduction, a third-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.
He pleaded guilty to the charges of abduction, a third-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, during Monday’s hearing.
Kelbley is ordering a pre-sentence report.
The joint recommendation is Maple would serve a five-year term of community control and be granted credit for 16 days served in Seneca County Jail.
Maple would be ordered to enter and complete a Volunteers of America program in Mansfield, undergo random drug and alcohol urinalysis and be classified as a Tier 1 sex offender, with registration once annually for 15 years.
He would not be allowed to have contact with the victim.
Seneca County Prosecutor’s Office is to dismiss the rape charge at sentencing.
