Council to see new faces after election Tuesday
New and continuing faces will be gracing Tiffin City Council following unofficial results Tuesday.
First, Second, Third and Fourth Ward council member terms are set to expire this year. Claiming those seats are Bridget Boyle, First Ward with 279 votes; Ken Jones, Second Ward with 326 votes over Ben Shuff with 148 votes; Dawn Iannantuono Third Ward, with 317 votes; and Rich Focht, Fourth Ward with 723 votes over Nancy Grandillo with 451 votes.
“I am very pleased with the results, Jones said. “Going door-to-door really paid off and I am looking forward to working with council.
Jones said he will continue to attend council meetings and functions.
“Now is when the real work begins,” he said.
Jones said he wants to thank all those who stood behind him and had confidence in him for the future.
Focht, who has served on council the past six years, said he is happy he has won this race.
“I’m happy to be a part of all that is going on in Tiffin and to continue what we started,” Focht said.
Focht said of his opponent Grandillo, “Nancy worked really hard and I have to give her a lot of credit.”
“It is encouraging to have the support of the voters,” Focht said. “It feels really good to notice all the good we have done.”
Grandillo who called Focht to concede said, “he was nothing but a gentleman.”
“I appreciate all of the support and I believe the city is in good hands,” Grandillo said.
