Youth center employee accused of taking girl to Indiana now charged with sexual battery

An employee of Seneca County Youth Center who was charged after allegedly traveling to Indiana with a girl who recently was released from the facility now has been accused of a sex-related crime, according to court records.

Wayne P. Robinson, 49, of Tiffin, initially had been charged with interference with custody, a fifth-degree felony. The case was bound over to Seneca County Common Pleas Court and dismissed.

He now has been charged with sexual battery, a third-degree felony, according to court records.

A Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court spokeswoman said Robinson waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning, and his case will be bound over to Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

Fostoria Police Department had taken a report Sept. 16 of a missing youth who recently had been released from Seneca County Youth Center.

It was determined the youth had traveled to Indiana with Robinson, an employee of the youth center, according to court records.

According to court records, the girl admitted to “running away” with Robinson to Indiana without the permission of her parent/guardian. Robinson admitted to picking up the girl at her father’s residence in Fostoria and they traveled to Indiana without the permission of her parent/guardian, they state.

Robinson allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with the youth, according to court records.
