Tiffin University students spent time with residents at the Elmwood Assisted Living facility Tuesday afternoon for a tea and pizza party.

The visit was part of the GlamourGals chapter at TU, which was co-founded by junior Jena Huffman.

Huffman, of Tiffin, is pursuing a degree in exercise science. She along with a friend founded the Tiffin/Fostoria chapter of GlamourGals while in high school. This chapter is still together and takes time visiting residents at St. Francis Home.

While at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar, Huffman said she was a guest volunteer at a GlamourGals makeover and fell in love with the idea of starting her own chapter.

GlamourGals is a national organization that inspires teen volunteers to provide companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes.

Huffman said she and her friend ran the chapter until they graduated high school, but when she entered college, said she didn’t feel right without GlamourGals.

Huffman and her advisor, Julia Porter, founded the TU chapter and once a month they visit Elmwood providing them with makeovers, manicures, and crafts.

The TU men’s basketball team and women’s soccer team also assisted in spending time with the residents.

Huffman has plans to attend dental school following her time at TU.
