One dead, at least one other hurt in Fostoria shooting
FOSTORIA — A man died and at least one other person was hurt during a shooting Saturday night.
About 11:35 p.m. Saturday, a man reported two people had broken into his residence at 243 W. Lytle St. The man reported he and one of the intruders had been shot during a struggle, according to a release from Fostoria Police Department.
One of the intruders, a man, was dead upon first-responders’ arrival, according to the police department.
Chief Keith Loreno of Fostoria Police Department said an autopsy would be performed by Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
The release states a person reported a second intruder escaped before officers arrived, and the person who escaped also may have been shot. The second person was described as being a black man with his face covered and was estimated to be between 20-30 years old.
The two men had not been identified Sunday.
Anyone with information about their identities can call the police department at (419) 435-8573.
Raul Badillo, the property owner, was transported to the hospital by Fostoria Fire Division. He was treated and released, according to the release.
The release states it appeared the residence was the only target.
Loreno declined to say if the people involved knew each other and said the investigation is ongoing.
“We have some weapons. … We’ve recovered weapons,” he said.
Personnel from Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Seneca County Prosecutor’s Office, State Highway Patrol, Community Emergency Response Team and Seneca County Coroner’s Office assisted.
