Tiffin man sentenced to prison

A Tiffin man was sentenced to prison during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff’s courtroom.

Joshua Robert Carter, 30, admitted he violated the terms of his community control, court records state.

Carter had been convicted of two counts of trafficking in heroin, both fifth-degree felonies, in 2014 and of one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, in 2016.

Shuff extended Carter’s community control until September 2021 and granted credit for time served in Seneca County Jail, according to court records.

Carter must complete a substance abuse rehabilitation program, enter and complete a domestic violence counseling program and undergo drug and/or alcohol urinalysis as directed by Adult Parole Authority, they state.

He also must pay fines totaling $4,500.

Man sentenced to prison

A man was sentenced to more than a year in prison during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom.

Justin M. Vaughn, 28, entered a written negotiated plea of guilty to a charge of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, court records state.

He also admitted he violated the terms of his community control. He had pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Kelbley sentenced Vaughn to 14 months in prison, with credit for time served, according to court records.

Man pleads guilty

A Risingsun man pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom.

Cody A. Beckford, 29, entered a written negotiated plea of guilty to a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, according to court records.

The case was referred for a pre-sentence investigation.
