Three hurt in Market Street accident

Three people were hurt in an accident on Market Street at Nile Street on Monday afternoon.

Lt. Jason Windsor of Tiffin Police Department said Brian Jackson, 27, of Tiffin, was driving a Dodge Ram, Darlene Wertz, 59, of New Riegel, was driving a Honda Civic, and Cara Kummerer, 25, of Tiffin, was driving a Chevrolet Impala.

All three vehicles were driving east. The Dodge Ram failed to stop and struck the Honda Civic, pushing it into the Chevrolet Impala, Windsor said.

Windsor said Wertz, Kummerer and Britne Carter, 49, of Tiffin, a passenger in Kummerer’s vehicle, all were taken by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, he said.

Jackson and Cobain Kummerer, 4, a passenger in Kummerer’s vehicle, were not hurt.

Windsor said everyone was wearing seatbelts, and Cobain Kummerer was in a child restraint seat.

Jackson was cited with failing to maintain assured clear distance ahead, he said.
