Lawsuit filed against doctor, facility

An attorney for a Tiffin woman has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Rudolph Vela and Northwest Ohio Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Inc. of Findlay.

The lawsuit, filed in Seneca County Common Pleas Court, states Nancy Frederick of Tiffin received medical care and treatment at the facility from March 6, 2018, until March 19, 2019.

It states she participated and complied with her physical therapy.

Frederick suffered permanent injury and loss of vision in both eyes, according to the lawsuit.

The defendants had a duty to Frederick to provide and use the care and skill necessary as a general physician to diagnose and treat her, it states.

It alleges they breached that duty when they failed to properly interpret diagnostic data, laboratory results and patient symptoms to diagnose and/or treat Frederick.

Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley is to preside over the case.
