Three hurt in accident at US 224, SR 18
Three people were hurt in a head-on accident at US 224 and SR 18 Tuesday morning.
According to a Tiffin Police Department report, Julia A. Takacs, 49, of Wellington, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet 1500 northwest on US 224, and George F. Allgyre, 90, of Fostoria, was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry southeast on SR 18.
Takacs failed to yield the right-of-way while turning left and turned into the path of the Toyota Camry, it states.
Takacs, Allgyre and Allgyre’s passenger, Xenith M. Allgyre, 88, of Fostoria, were taken by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, according to the report.
Life Flight was requested to go to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital but was unable fly.
Xenith Allgyre had a suspected serious injury, according to the report.
Xenith Allgyre was in the emergency department at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
All three people were wearing seatbelts, and Takacs was cited with failure to yield right-of-way when turning left, the report states.
