Budweiser Clydesdales to visit Wyandot County Fair and BG

FINDLAY — Budweiser’s famous Clydesdale horses are scheduled to make two appearances in northwest Ohio in September.

The eight-horse hitch team and famous red wagon will appear at the Wyandot County Fair in Upper Sandusky 3-5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the grandstand infield, according to a release from Beerco/City Beverage.

The horses will then appear in Bowling Green Sept. 14 just before Bowling Green State University’s homecoming football game from 3-5 p.m., in front of the Stroh Center, it states.

Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch must be at least 3 years old, approximately 18 hands, or 6 feet, tall at the shoulder, weigh about 2,000 pounds, be bay-colored with four white legs, have a blaze of white on the face and have a black mane and tail, it states.

Each Budweiser Clydesdale hitch also travels with a Dalmatian, it states. In Budweiser’s early days, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries, it states.
