Republic Town Hall to be undergoing structural analysis
Reviving Republic and the Scipio Republic Area Historical Society plan to have an engineer conduct a structure analysis of the Town Hall accessing its overall condition and an architect making recommendations for costs for its renovation. The organization is short on enough funds to pay the inspection fee and is asking for donations to cover the cost from public members.
Councilman Kevin Thompson reported plans for the August 3 block party continue. A Legion Riders poker run starts the day. When they return, disc jockey Chill Will plays tunes with the band Alternate Ending following for entertainment. Scipio-Republic Fire Department is having a fish fry and he continues to seek children’s activities.
Legion Riders have a poker run Saturday starting at 9 a.m. to benefit Wreaths Across America which places wreaths on veterans’ graves at Christmas time.
The utility committee met with Scipio township trustees preceding the council meeting to discuss the high cost of electricity at the Town Hall. The electric meter is to be checked for accuracy as the first step.
Billing clerk Jodi Honaker stated the village has received funds through an Ohio Department of Transportation grant from the county for replacing signage in the village and Scipio town ship.
Fiscal officer Jason Shade stated that all funds total $2,189,358.87 with $600,000 of that invested.
The next meeting is 7 p.m. Aug. 5.
