Fatal accident in Wyandot County Monday

A Sycamore man died in a one-vehicle accident on TH 136 Monday.

At 1:19 p.m. Monday, Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office received the call and responded to the scene.

According to a release from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony C. Moler, 29, of Sycamore, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet truck south on TH 136 when he struck an area of the road that had been washed away by floodwaters.

After the truck hit the hole in the road it entered Spring Branch Run and submerged under the water, the release states.

Moler was able to get out of the truck and go for help but his passenger, Johnathan K. Miller, 26, of Sycamore, was unable to be located at the time, the release states.

It was not until the waters receded that units from Sycamore Water Rescue and Upper Sandusky Water Rescue were able to find the truck, approximately 100 yards west of TH 136 in the Spring Branch Run, the release states.

Miller still was inside the truck when rescue units found it, the release states.

Miller was transported to Lucas Baton Funeral Home by Sycamore EMS, the release states.

Moler was treated at the scene by Sycamore EMS, the release states. Neither Moler or Miller were wearing seat belts, the release states.

Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Sycamore EMS and Wyandot County Coroner Schuler assisted at the scene.
