Multiple accidents Thursday evening
Crews responded to three accidents Thursday evening.
A Tiffin man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on CR 591.
Trooper Richard Donovan of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Melvin Hook, 33, was traveling east on CR 591. Hook went off the right side of the road, struck a pole and came to a rest in a field, he said.
Donovan said Hook was transported by NBS EMS District to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Chief Dennis Kessler of NBS Fire District said Hook had to be extricated from the car. Personnel used spreaders to pop the driver’s door open and they used cutters to cut the brake pedal, he said. Kessler said the extrication took about five minutes.
Donovan said Hook was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to control.
Hook was wearing a seatbelt, he said.
CR 591 was closed while crews worked at the scene.

Mason stopped at the stop sign, pulled into the intersection to make a left turn and his Honda was struck by Harding’s Ford, he said. Davis said the Ford went off the right side of the road and the Honda came to a rest partially off the left side of the road.
