Sportsman’s Raffle to benefit firefighter
The proceeds from Tiffin Firefighters Local 322 fourth annual Sportsman’s Raffle is going to benefit a fellow firefighter and his family.
Firefighter/paramedic Keith Johnson of Tiffin Fire Rescue Division said proceeds from the event are going to Sean Tyler and his family. Tyler has been diagnosed with liver cancer, he said.
Johnson said Tyler is a registered nurse at Mercy Health –Tiffin Hospital and has worked at Tiffin Fire Rescue Division for more than 12 years. Members have decided to give the proceeds to Tyler because they take care of each other, he said.
“We don’t fight fire alone. We are brothers and sisters and we take care of our own,” Johnson said. “This is our way of supporting Sean and his family and making sure that the only thing he has to focus on is beating cancer.”
The event is to be 6-10 p.m. March 9 at Camden Falls Reception and Conference Center, 2460 S. SR 231, he said. Johnson said the main event is a gun raffle and there are also to be meat boards, side raffles and a veteran’s gun giveaway. Appetizers and a cash bar also are to be offered, he said.
Admission is free, and tickets for the gun raffle are $10, Johnson said.
He said the raffle takes place every year the second weekend in March.
In the past, he said proceeds have gone to benefit firefighters and various charities. Proceeds also have enabled Local 322 to purchase Chromebooks for a school classroom and has given money to Boy Scouts working on Eagle Scout project and local schools to go toward various programs.
