Clyde-GS board eying 10-year, 4.15-mill levy
Clyde-Green Springs Exempted Village School District Board of Education members met for a special session at the board office to discuss placing a levy on the May ballot.
Three options were discussed, including a replacement levy, an emergency levy and an earned income tax. After discussion, members were the most comfortable approving the emergency levy.
The board approved the resolution of necessity stating it is necessary to levy a tax in excess of the 10-mill limitation. The most likely scenario is a 10-year, 4.15-mill emergency levy that should generate about $1 million annually.
The resolution is to be submitted to the Sandusky County auditor to calculate the exact figures. Based on the value of a $100,000 home, the cost would be $145 a year. Next, the board is to consider the resolution of intent to move forward for placement of the levy on the May ballot during the next meeting.
The board is to meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Clyde council chambers.
