Board begins discussing 2019 fair

Seneca County Agricultural Society

Seneca County Agricultural Society met Tuesday night on the Seneca County Fairgrounds to begin laying out upcoming fair plans.

After walking through financial reports for the fiscal year, followed by brief District 1 and 8 meeting takeaways, the board tackled deadline requirements for the 2019 Ohio Fair Managers Association Convention and the 2019 Seneca County Fair. With the convention set for Jan. 3-6 in Columbus, participating members discussed event contracts, hospitality and Seneca County Fair’s representation — Brian Staib and Bruce Henney as delegate and alternate, respectively.

The board then moved on to the 2019 fair schedule, and considered switching event days, booking music concerts and entertainment, adding new attractions and possibly cutting classes. As the theme — and any fair book changes — must be selected and submitted by April, the fair board has three monthly meetings remaining to cement plans.

In other news, it was announced the fair board is looking for a new fine arts superintendent.

Also, the fair board announced Tuesday night was Nicole Hoover’s final meeting as junior fair coordinator. She was thanked and applauded for her many years of service. Emily Gilliland is new junior fair coordinator.
