Patrol: Driver fell asleep

ATTICA — A man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on US 224 Friday afternoon.

Trooper Allison Young of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Hunter Havekost, 19, of Seville, was traveling east on US 224 in a 2010 Ford F-150 and drove off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, overturned and came to rest right side up. She said he had fallen asleep.

Young said Havekost was transported by Willard EMS to Mercy Health – Willard Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

She said Havekost was cited with failure to control.

He was wearing a seatbelt, Young said..

Traffic on US 224 was slowed to one-lane while crews worked at the scene.

The accident was reported at 3:02 p.m. and Willard EMS, Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District, State Highway Patrol, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Wilcox Garage responded to the scene.
